Île de Ngor, Dakar, Senegal - June 2017:  " Come here, young man. Sit here and watch the waves. Watch them swirl and crash - rough, no? You think you can even make it off the coast, let alone all the way to Europe? And what's more, once you're there, people there will hate and look down on you. Think about your family. You may never see them again."  Here at the westernmost point of the African continent, high on an outlook covered with hippie, carefree paraphernalia, older men try to talk down the countless young men who dream of migrating to Europe, a phenomenon that was reaching record levels mid-decade. Despite Senegal being a bright spot in terms of political stability in the region, its coastal location tempts many to secure a better economic future in Italy, Spain, or France.
